The Kujira token, also known as $KUJI, is the native token of the Kujira Network, serving several important functions such as paying network fees and dApp fees.
The Kujira Network is a Cosmos Layer 1 platform that hosts a diverse and synergistic ecosystem of decentralized applications (dApps). It operates under a semi-permissioned model where new dApps must be approved by the protocol's governance, ensuring quality and reliability.
The Kujira project was initially active on the Terra network, where it created ORCA, a liquidation tool on the Anchor lending platform. After the collapse of the Terra ecosystem, Kujira launched its own dedicated Layer 1 network. The KUJI token was released through a token generation event in November 2021.
The KUJI token has undergone significant milestones since its inception. The original supply of 150 million tokens was reduced through a governance vote on January 18, 2022, which resulted in the burning of liquidity pool rewards. The release schedule for the KUJI token will conclude on November 9, 2023, at 12 pm UTC, when all tokens will be fully vested.
