Upland is a virtual real estate and metaverse game built on the EOS blockchain, allowing players to buy, sell, and trade virtual properties that correspond to real-world locations. Launched in 2019, it aims to create an open metaverse that bridges the real and virtual worlds, offering users a decentralized, player-driven economic system.

Players can develop their virtual properties by constructing buildings, opening virtual businesses, and participating in various in-game activities and tasks. These assets generate income in the form of UPX, Upland's in-game currency, which can be used for transactions within the platform. Additionally, Upland has introduced the SPARKLET token, an externally tradable token that facilitates world-building and user-generated content development within the metaverse.

Upland has garnered significant attention and investment, securing $18 million in a Series A funding round led by Animoca Brands in 2021, and an additional $7 million in Series A1 financing from EOS Network Ventures in 2023. These investments have supported the platform's growth and expansion, enabling it to offer a rich interactive and creative experience that integrates real and virtual worlds.
